THE BENEFITS OF PRESSURE
COMPENSATED EMITTERS
Paying a little more can often have
tremendous benefits. For instance, pressure compensated emitters
for your new irrigation system will have the following benefits:
* An even output is maintained from
pressure compensated emitters irrespective of pressure at the
emitter - subject to minimum and maximum pressure parameters.
This is particularly important
on undulating terrain, where variations in lateral height can
produce marked differences in pressure at emitters along the
lateral.
In fact, a lateral equipped with
compensated emitters outperforms a lateral equipped with
standard emitters in every case, since variations across the
lateral are virtually totally
eliminated - uphill, downhill or across level terrain.
* Laterals can be of a longer length
or a smaller diameter than with non-pressure compensated emitters,
since a higher inlet pressure can be used, and the emitters maintain
an even output across the lateral.
The longer the length and/or smaller
the diameter of laterals, the greater the output
variation between uncompensated emitters at the beginning and
the end of the lateral will be.
Using a pressure compensated emitter
overcomes this variation and subject to the ability
of the lateral to carry the required flow, every emitter will
provide a similar output, whether
it is at the beginning, in the middle or at the end of the lateral,
thus providing equal
growth opportunities along the full length of the lateral.
WaterMart recommends using pressure
compensated emitters in every instance, and supplies Netafim
and DAN equipment, which is manufactured to exacting standards.
