ENSURES UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION OF WATER AND FERTILIZERS OVER THE ENTIRE GROVE AREA, REGARDLESS OF TOPOGRAPHICAL VARIATIONS The snap-off deflector enables the sprinkler to be used as a short throw sprinkler for the development of young trees during the early years of grove establishment, and then as a long throw sprinkler during subsequent years without needing to change irrigation lay-out. Using normal micro-sprinklers usually means changing from short to long throw outlets, and increasing sprinkler output to achieve the extra distance. This means that up to three times the short throw output per emitter is discharged after the change to long throw, which in many cases means that the number of emitters which can be operated together is severely reduced. Using the Dan 2001 micro-sprinkler with snap-off deflector results in a change from short to long throw without any increase in output - all that increases is the radius, and the irrigation system does not need to be changed.
